-For the Powerpoint interaction assignment I learned a few new skills that I found cool and very helpful. One of those is the ability to link slides together to where you can click on a picture or word and it will jump back to any slide of your choosing. This skill is amazing because it allows you to have a more interactive lesson within a PowerPoint presentation and create personalized educational games. I had no critiques on the assignment because I actually very much enjoyed doing it.

-For using data collection techniques, I will be teaching specifically middle school history, and for this grade level, not much history is already taught. So instead of using it to see what my students already know, I will use them for gauging the receptability of the lessons and see if they retain the info outside of testing. Also to use to get parent feedback on their child's educational experience.

-From reviewing my classmates' blogs I found some things very interesting. It was cool to see the differences in everyone's creative mindsets when they designed their blogs but also how that gauged everyone's different technological abilities. Also, it was cool to see other people's opinions on the same topics and assignments throughout the class.

-For tech-flex I honestly have not done many of them and have not found them very meaningful to me personally. If they are enjoyed by others that is great but for me it is different. It does help give people a tangible reward for learning and a sense of achievement though.

-For a skill I would like to learn next is probably video editing. To be able to achieve this I will probably watch some tutorial videos and experiment with different editing software to maybe navigate my own way around learning this skill. Also maybe try editing on tik tok on the basic in-app level.

-From my experiences in EME 2040 I have learned some skills that I had never had to use before and now find it easier to navigate certain programs, even ones that I had used quite often. I also have discovered how to expand on those skills on my own personal basis to where I can do things on certain programs that are not directly the basic skill but I can figure out how to go about what I want to do more easily without frustration or asking for help. It has also exposed me to new programs that I had never used before and I can now have in my own tool belt (PLN) to muse in the future.

-Open Educational Resources (OER) are great resources for teachers because they allow sharing of materials to other teachers without any charge or hassle in the use or purchase of copyright restrictions. This is a great way for teachers to share lessons and other materials like worksheets and activities freely making the quality of lessons better and also more accessible. Because things like schools budgets and little pay can limit a teacher from doing the most for their students. This article goes into detail on the definitions of OERs as well as the pros and cons of them, how to use them, and the legal process in which they are obtained and distributed.

-For the information Dissemination assignment I learned how to use embedded hyperlinks better. As well as using voice recording and video recording and making a full presentation for the assignment. I did kind of show me the differences in types of files in which powerpoints can be made into and how each type is coded into the file differently so it helped me know which file base to format my presentation in. For my pros and cons, I did like the extensive lesson plan that I had to do which allowed me to do a very thorough lesson but to counteract that I did not like that my whole presentation had to be within 6 mins when I had a full 16 slides to cover. that part felt like it was limiting my teaching experience and not really giving me the full feelings of teaching a lesson.

-For the web design assignment I learned a great deal. Some of it was more technical things like formatting certain sections. As well as being able to learn the more technical steps to be able to easily type and set up things the way I want without the trial and error aspect. I also learned more about embedding links, like the google calendar. I have found it difficult because in the past I just include a clickable link but actually embedding it seems an easier route but more complicated step-wise. Also, it has helped me further my ability to navigate Canva and digital design.

-I'm still learning how to navigate Diigo. But from my experience, I have found it very useful to help connect not only teachers to their students when it comes to resources and work but allow the students to connect on things they learn and share resources and ideas in an easy way. This is set up very similarly to a social media platform which is nice because it already is somewhat familiar to students who are very informed about social media, which in this generation it is very very common.

-Teachers are adapting to new teaching techniques every day as new technology is developed and created. And one main way they help keep up with the curve is to rely on each other. So doing platforms similar to this as blogs, or writing articles about new resources. So one resource would be the website teachers pay teachers, which share lesson plans as well as worksheets and can include new websites with modules and other resources. Here is an example of an article sharing websites and resources for teachers to use.

-Individualized class webpages can be very helpful because it allows the parents to see into the school life of their child in certain environments. It helps the parents be involved in their child's learning experience as well as build connections to the school itself. I explored a class webpage for 6th-grade social studies at St. Patrick Catholic academy, and this is slightly different than a typical webpage. It is similar in the respect that it has information outlining classroom expectations and the structure of the classroom. Like how homework is going to be distributed and such. It also had school events specific to that grade level and other school info, like covid protocols. It also had links to all homework assignments so that they can be easily accessed at home. One last thing is that I noticed that because it is a religious-based school it also touched on how their beliefs will be tied into the student's education.

- For my own professional skills I really plan on using basic software like Grammarly and social media platforms in which teachers share lesson plans. I want to be able to expand my skills and my horizons as much as I can, and I have learned that the best way to do that is to learn from others. So the effective means of communication with not only other teachers but with parents and my students is crucial and so no matter what technology I use I want to be prepared to use it so I can pass that knowledge onto my students.

-Using Wiki was a little easier than I had anticipated in the idea that when I first created my account the opening home page seemed very full and it overloaded my eyes a little which overwhelmed me. But once I began to navigate it I began to see the logical side of its organization. Also when we did our evaluation forms using the one link to have all of them on there and be able to edit easily was very nice and I can see myself using that to do group projects in the future because it allowed one area to be able to collaborate easily.

- Twitter has been a social media platform that is very prevalent within society. Celebrities have used it for their own personal battlegrounds, President Trump used it as his own unfiltered expression of his opinions of the world, and many other uses. My personal experience with Twitter is not very extensive. I first started to use it when I was a junior in high school because I was in AP classes and the College Board used Twitter to help students study for the end-of-year exams as well as release any important information regarding the tests and anything relevant to the courses. This exposure was not very extensive. Then I started to use it more when I entered college at FSU. I used it for the main objectives of receiving information related to the Marching chiefs which I was auditioning for and now am a part of. As well as information from relevant organizations within Florida state that was related to things I would be involved in when I moved to Tallahassee. Organizations like marching chiefs, university housing, and admissions. These definitely benefited me because it was a faster way to receive viable information that I needed and it also was a doorway into a higher involvement into the Florida State culture.

For any future use, I could definitely see it being used within my teaching career because from current knowledge teachers use this platform to not only communicate and learn from each other but share resources for lesson plans or activities that they use in their classrooms. Also, just a social platform to share experiences and connect with other teachers.

-The digital divide within schools is started to become a more prominent issue within society. Society itself relies on technology very heavily while the economic divide is unable to keep up with the same level of advancement. Specifically looking at the American economy the gap between the rich and poor is widening exponentially and those living closer to the [poverty line are struggling to live on what they make. This directly affects schools because some of these schools that are established within these lower-income neighborhoods mirror those same deficits. And so the preparation for students to be successful in the modern world is lowered because the exposure to technology is very low even though the idea of certain technologies are very prevalent within the world today.

For example, the 2020 COVID lockdown exposed this divide almost immediately because almost all schools switched to a completely online format. And when kids did not have equal access to computers to be able to do school work it stunted learning because teachers were in reality only able to fully engage with a fraction of their classes. And when expected to move on to the next grade level there was a rise in students not meeting the tested benchmarks after completion of the previous grade level.

This would definetly change my teaching strategies becuase when doing lesson plans I, as the teacher, must make sure that teh assignment can be completed fairly and consistantly by all students at an aimed equal level. So if it is a flash card activity make sure that physical cards could be made and used other than an online format. Also if there is an assignemnt that is fully online, make sure to give time in class or opputunities to completle it in school.

-For academic software, i really enjoy using quizlet as a resource becuase not only does it have the flashcard feature but also has other study games options that are adaptable to different learning styles. So my students could find which one works best for them and go from there. It is also self-paced learning so they can go at whatever pace works for them and gives the more control of their own learning. Another resource would be kahoot. As popular as it is in schools now i have seen that kids really love it and it gets them engaged with the content and learning. And i believe that that excitement is a very useful benefit that can give stuents something to look forward to which gets them engaged with the rest of the lesson.

 Blog Post #4

-I chose to look at the 8th-grade level ELA standards and the one that I want to examine is LAFS.8.L.3.4.

This standard is teaching the students to be able to use multiple types of resources as well as skills to determine definition as well as pronunciation of vocabulary they encounter. This includes being able to navigate physical dictionaries and thesauruses as well as online platforms or the same resources to accomplish this. Also to use current knowledge to be able to determine the meaning when certain resources are not available. And with my current skill set, I do feel prepared to teach this standard because it is almost a basic skill that has been implemented within my educational career with most of my tasks even at the college level. I also have the ability to be able to teach this skill in a way that makes the students think through it on their own with only guidance from me because it's finding out what they know and using that to figure out their own solution.

-For the CPALMs resource I chose to again look at the 8th grade and specifically look a Social Studies student resources. The resource that I chose is an interactive lesson presented by Bill O. Rights and it explores the First amendment. It breaks the standard down into many basic parts so that the student can build their knowledge off of what they learn, as well as challenge their thinking. I would use this because it gives an alternative way to teach certain information as well as give the student a little more freedom to the pace at which they learn. And it makes it a little fun by having a cartoon interaction for them to focus on instead of a Teacher.

-Being able to search on the internet productively is a vital skill because being able to navigate different areas of the internet for information enables the student or anyone to have access to an expanse amount of resources. Which can enable them to develop certain thoughts from a multitude of viewpoints or sources to have the most developed consensus of a topic or idea. And the skill I would use in the future would be to use the advanced search on google because now I just change my keywords but if I do a full-blown advanced search my resources for research can be much more expanse than it is now.

-Copyright and the idea of fair use is a heavy topic in the idea that originality and personal credit are important in the world. I say this because if plagiarizing was not a law the idea that promoting individuality and creative thinking as well as the creation of ideas oneself would be very rare. When one is doing an assignment to analyze certain ideas the offer of taking an easy road is more tempting than to build upon your own ideas and further the pursuit of knowledge.

-For the first idea of Student privacy giving a certain level of trust to students when online may open up better communication and want to take part in their own learning. Giving little to no privacy treats them as if they were not to be trusted in the first place and so this leads to the need for defiance to fulfill the idea of discovering individuality in a harmful way. You get what you give in other words. For the second issue of decreased productivity having technology is meant to give an easier and more effective way to do things but in turn, this does cause a slight level of laziness and so to counteract that the idea of finding programs that stimulate students thinking and almost in an
unconscious way forces them to have the productivity but in a new way.

-For skills, I learned making the newsletter I liked the ideas of the columns which I had never used before and it was very confusing but once I was able to figure it out it helped me make my pice more appealing to the eye. Also, the permission slip was also very frustrating being able to type over the inserted shape can help me in the future, though I could better the ways in which I design

the background to help.
